About the job

SUMMARY 
Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in incoming and/or outgoing shipments and preparing items for shipment.  Supervisor will direct movement of material from the various warehouses to the customer.  Confer with other supervisors to ensure coordination of all activities to meet deadlines set by sales department. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required for this position. Must be detail oriented.  Follows prescribed work methods. 

Your tasks

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES 
• Coordinate all aspects of shipping and/or receiving 
• Provides initial and on-going training and evaluations to assigned personnel related to job duties and performance expectations  
• Work with the lead to ensure that inspections of material handling equipment and their defects are reported to Maintenance for a speedy repair  
• Ensure group leader performs the trailer line-up and assigned trailers as needed. 
• Notify supervisors of fabricated parts needed to keep the truck loading process moving 
• Contact inside Sales on order issues. 
• Ensure all pick tickets are run for the schedule ship date  
• Oversee all shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness and condition of the shipments  
• Lead 5S and housekeeping initiatives of function 
• Effectively allocate resources and prioritize assignments to ensure the accurate and timely completion of all assigned tasks; ensures the cost effectiveness of the shipping function, including the control of labor utilization - preventing excess hours, downtime, overtime, and efficient usage of transportation equipment.  Develops standard work practices for function.  
• Coordinates with Human Resources, all aspects of employee relations including, but not limited to, employee interviewing, hiring, coaching, counseling, disciplinary action, complaints, scheduling, training and development, etc. 
• Reliable attendance a must 
• Other duties as assigned 

Requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE  
• BS Degree 
• Education and minimum of 4-6 years in a similar manufacturing operation preferred. 
 
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 
• Directly supervises up to 50 employees
