About the job

The Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all safety, health, environmental, and quality initiatives at Franke Home Solutions, Midland, ON, Canada. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, upholds high-quality standards, promotes a safe and environmentally responsible workplace, and drives continuous improvement.

Your tasks

Quality Management:

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure product standards align with company and regulatory expectations.
  • Conduct regular audits, inspections, and root-cause analyses to address quality issues promptly.
  • Lead quality improvement projects, collaborating closely with production and operations teams to maintain and elevate product quality.
  • Provide training and support to employees on quality protocols, ensuring a strong culture of quality throughout the organization.

Health and Safety:

  • Implement and enforce health and safety policies in compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations.
  • Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations to maintain a proactive and preventive approach to workplace safety.
  • Analyze incident data, manage corrective action plans, and promote health and safety awareness among staff.
  • Lead training sessions on health and safety practices, ensuring employees are well-informed and compliant.

Environmental Management:

  • Develop and maintain environmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant environmental regulations and sustainability goals.
  • Monitor environmental performance through regular assessments, addressing any non-compliance or potential risks.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste, energy usage, and environmental impact, promoting sustainable practices across the facility.
  • Provide training to staff on environmental responsibilities and initiatives to promote a culture of environmental stewardship.

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure full compliance with quality, health, and safety laws and standards, including ISO 9001 and applicable health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of quality and safety activities, audits, and incident reports.
  • Present quality and safety performance updates to senior management, identifying areas for improvement and recommending solutions.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement in both quality and safety domains, setting performance goals and tracking progress.
  • Stay informed on industry best practices and regulatory updates, integrating them into organizational policies and procedures.
  • Drive initiatives that promote operational excellence, efficiency, and enhanced safety performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Occupational Safety, or a related field preferred.
  • Relevant certifications in Quality (e.g., ISO 9001 Lead Auditor) and Health & Safety (e.g., OSHA, CRSP) are required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in quality assurance and health and safety management within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems and health and safety regulations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and data analysis skills.
  • Proven problem-solving ability and meticulous attention to detail.
