About the job

As Engineering Manager, setup and control all production engineering activities within the facility. Also entails Budget and Capex investment control and co-ordination, technology development, tooling, system and process improvements, development of subordinates and the facility. As a sheet metal processing subject matter expert, drive the business forward successfully using the latest available engineering tools and equipment.

Your tasks

  • Responsible for managing the local operational engineering team
  • Responsible for systems and development
  • Planning of staff to ensure the continuous operation of the entrusted departments
  • Manages, control, and evaluate the performance of subordinates
  • Eng. Team / employee training and development of individual team members
  • Responsible for initiating, managing, and monitoring investment projects, process improvement projects
  • Planning, ordering and implementation of tools or fixturing for new product lines
  • Budget planning for running entrusted to departments and teams (investment and operational budget)
  • Develops and implements project plans, creates schedules, determines staffing requirements, cost estimating, and tracking the status of projects and associated costs. 
  • Authorizes market research, receives proposals from management, market managers, sister companies and customers to form a potential project data base.
  • May negotiate contracts with consulting firms or universities to perform research studies.
  • Prepares and tracks schedules and budgets for full projects.
  • Interacts frequently with manufacturing to solve complex problems.
  • Research for potential patent infringement and applies for patents when applicable
  • Interfaces frequently with Purchasing, Shipping, Production, Production Control, Marketing and Sales employees.
  • Contacts vendors for quotes and specifications as well as contacts and visits customers as required, coordinating multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Assists Purchasing in price negotiations and identification of new sources of equipment
  • Cooperates in assuring technical instructions for Manufacturing and Quality Control
  • Continually expand use of design standards as developed jointly by engineering and manufacturing while promoting “Design for Lean & Flow Manufacturing” methodology to ensure its use; requires active participation in Lean Workshops
  • Facilitates the Design Review Process between engineering and other departments and provides engineering support.
  • May review and approve incoming requests and set up work assignments for these requests among the engineering team.
  • Coordinates with Human Resources all aspects of employee relations including, but not limited to, employee interviewing, hiring, coaching, counseling, disciplinary action, complaints, scheduling, training and development, etc

Requirements

Technical Knowledge:

  • Engineering and Technology — Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology in sheetmetal processing.
  • Management — Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Mechanical — Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Production and Processing — Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
  • 5 years management or leadership experience with a process engineering environment.
  • 3-5 years hands-on experience within electromechanical assemblies.
  • In depth knowledge of sheet metal processing, refrigeration,laser, punch, bend and weld, polish, assembly and packing.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and leadership qualities.
  • Creativity, able to think outside the box to provide creative solutions.
  • Ability to work with all levels of company staff.
  • Analytical and adaptable approach, work successfully with ever changeable conditions.
  • Experience with controlling operation of equipment or systems.
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Good analytical and conceptual abilities.
  • Must be a Team player and ability the lead teams
  • Open and communicative
  • English proficiency level
