About the job
This position is responsible for providing refrigeration design support for the engineering team.
This position provides designs and documentation to Engineering and Manufacturing to produce refrigeration products. In addition, supports manufacturing with refrigeration technologies and troubleshooting.
Responsible for R&D, NPD and CQSA projects for refrigeration. This engineer will work on developing new technologies to expand Franke’s global refrigeration product portfolio and work on projects related to sustaining current product portfolio. Also helps service team troubleshoot field test units and production units. Responsible for reducing COPQ.
Your tasks
- Develop new technology solutions to meet customer refrigeration/freezer needs across various application environments.
- Supports the engineering team in the generation of refrigeration test plans, works with lab to execute test plans.
- Creates and manages process documentation such as standards and work instructions.
- Focuses on the design and integration of refrigeration systems.
- Plans, designs, problem-solves and collaborates with various teams. Advises Engineering on the feasibility of the refrigeration systems design.
- Assists Purchasing in price negotiations and identification of new sources.
- Cooperates in assuring technical instructions for Manufacturing and Quality Control and field tests.
- Provides training for new and modified refrigeration system designs and processes.
- Provides support, mentorship and training for Engineering, Prototype and Manufacturing teams.
- Provides strategic direction for systems, projects and programs in the area of expertise.
- Specifies purchase parts, equipment, and materials required for optimum performance of refrigeration systems and/or design.
- Optimizes the design in manufacturing processes to improve quality and performance of existing refrigeration products.
- Ensures product design is in accordance with regulatory, governmental regulations and ISO standards.
- May be required to travel.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

- Master’s degree with emphasis on Refrigeration, Air conditioning or Heat Transfer\thermodynamics
- Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years of experience in commercial or supermarket refrigeration or open-top refrigeration
- Design — Knowledge of refrigeration design techniques, tools, and principals involved in the development of refrigeration equipment
- Engineering and Technology — Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services. Depp understanding of heat transfer and thermodynamics; practical application experience is a plus
- Management — Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
- Mechanical — Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Production and Processing — Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- High Language Skills - Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Very High Math Skills - Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
- Very High Reasoning Ability - Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
