About the job
SUMMARY
The Controller Il will serve as controller and business partner for the plant and supply chain, collaborating with finance and various cross-functional departments. This role focuses on efficient cost management across the supply chain, including Production, Logistics, Purchasing, Quality Control, Warehouse, and Engineering. Provides leadership and contributes to accounting procedures and book closing as needed in their domain.
Your tasks
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
• Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes for the plant and supply chain.
• Evaluate actual performance/results against plan.
• Analyze cost records, cost Of goods manufactured, overhead, scrap, write-offs, etc.
• Compare actual costs to standards/estimates and analyze variances.
• Manage month-end closing activities such as detailed account analysis, reconciliation, cost and inventory accounts, inventory evaluation, inventory roll forward and preparation of journal entries as necessary.
• Monitor stock turns and quality of inventory, and ensure adherence to inventory process performance targets.
• Conduct periodic impairment reviews for all assets and physical inventory counts, monitor, challenge and track actions on slow-moving stocks.
• Produce timely and accurate routine management reports, schedules, analyses, and summaries for review by the Operations Manager.
• Coordinate and lead the monthly cut-off activities with Operations.
• Ensure all controls are performed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Systematically and reliably control Operations KPIs and report them in the group's consolidation / reporting system.
• Support the team on cost savings planning and investment request generations
• Present financial results in various review situations such as the monthly management review.
• Conduct monthly budget reviews by cost center or department with department heads.
• Facilitation/management of key initiatives to support financial KPIs.
• Support the team in developing business cases with a practical approach while providing mentorship and guidance.
• Participate in process audits to offer improvement suggestions.
• Be an integral part of identifying savings opportunities and validate the achievements of savings projects.
• Prepare and analyze purchase price variances and draws conclusions, initiates and tracks actions.
• Design and implement a system of internal control.
• Is the key business partner and supervises all of the above activities for the plant in Mexico.
• Reliable attendance and regular physical visits to plants and warehouses is a must.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Management - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
• Economics and Accounting - Deep knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices and analysis and reporting of financial data.
• Very High Language Skills - Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
• Very High Mathematical Skills - Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis
• Very High Reasoning Skills - Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
• Computer Skills - Word processing, accounting, spreadsheet, and database software .
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• BS/BA Degree in related field
• 8-10 years prior related work experience.
• CPA or CMA preferred, not required.
• Bilingual in English in Spanish preferred, not required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Does directly supervise staff.
