About the job
SUMMARY
Under minimal or no direct supervision, responsible for developing and revising complex electrical systems to support new product development and sustaining engineering projects. Perform engineering design, documentation, testing, and validation of electrical equipment and controls systems for refrigeration, heating, and automation equipment. Develop of functional requirements and component specification to ensure compliance, reliability, and design requirements are fully met. Communicate with the other engineering personnel to coordinate the interrelated design and assure project completion. May provide technical leadership and assist in training less experienced engineering staff.
Your tasks
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
• Acts as subject matter expert.
• Develop conceptual and detailed electrical systems designs for commercial products and equipment.
• Utilize 2D and 3D CAD to document and communicate design intent.
• Read, interpret, and create wiring diagrams and schematics.
• Lead component selection, testing, and validation efforts.
• Design electrical circuits (AC and DC), including specification of relays, breakers, transformers, chokes, connectors, etc.
• Troubleshoot advanced electrical circuits and components.
• Perform and lead root cause analyses.
• Understand and perform load balancing calculations.
• Design complex wiring harnesses.
• Responsible for supporting product manual and document creation.
• Interact frequently with internal and external parties.
• Drive changes in procedures, standards, to facilitate work and maintain quality.
• Approve products for release, including maintaining all relevant data records.
• Mentor, coach, and lead others
• May manage projects to include but not limited to scope, design reviews, schedule and budgeting.
• May assist in managing department work load and project assignments.
• May be required to travel.
• Reliable attendance a must.

Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Advanced Electrical Design - Knowledge of electrical design techniques, tools, and principles involved in prototyping and production, including hands-on building and design skills.
• Intermediate Engineering and Technology - knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
• Advanced Equipment Testing - Familiarity with selecting and utilizing appropriate electrical test equipment for troubleshooting and diagnostics.
• Complex Wiring Harness Design - Ability to design wiring harnesses using computer tools (Knowledge of wiring harness manufacturing and crimping techniques is a plus).
• Intermediate Industrial Controls - Ability to build and wire industrial controls panels (PLC / embedded controls experience is a plus).
• Intermediate Mechanical - Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Intermediate Production and Processing - Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
• High Communication Skills - Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• High Mathematical Skills - Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Very High Reasoning Skills - Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
• Computer Skills: Word Processing software, Spreadsheet software, 2D Electrical Design related software (AutoCAD Electrical preferred), 3-D Design Software (Autodesk Inventor preferred), Manufacturing software, Database software.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Related Field
• 5 - 10 years of relevant experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Design experience with commercial or residential appliances highly preferred, including familiarity with 1 / 3 phase power usage and application.
