About the Job

The Field Service Technician is responsible for providing start-up, installation, warranty service, and general support for the Franke Authorized Service Network and its customers within the Chicagoland area. Please note that this position requires full travel availability, as the technician will also need to travel across the US on an as-needed basis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and operational support for customers and partners. 
  • Proficient with electrical, plumbing, and mechanical aspects of machine installation, operation, and repair.  
  • Repair and maintenance of Franke coffee and espresso machines.  
  • Provide superior customer service and maintaining a professional appearance, positive attitude, and excellent communication.  
  • Handle and resolve more complex customer requests or complaints when necessary. 
  • Willingness to work various shift hours as assigned (including 10-hour shifts).
  • Must be able to travel and work independently.  
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Customer Service - Knowledge of principles and processes needed for providing customer service.   
  • Mechanical - Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.  
  • Language Skills: Intermediate Skills - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before large groups.   
  • Mathematical Skills: Basic Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percentages and to draw and interpret bar graphs.   
  • Reasoning Ability: Very High Skills - Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret various types of technical instructions.   
  • Computer Skills: Word Processing Software, Spreadsheet Software, Order Processing Systems, Database Software.  
  • Other Knowledge: High mechanical ability, good working knowledge of electrical, refrigeration, water treatment, HVAC, steam highly preferred.  
     

Requirements

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of two years related work experience required. 
  • Must have the ability to travel 100% of the time.
  • Ability to use tools:  utility knife, tape gun, screw drivers, common hand tools as needed.
  • Ability to work in elevations greater than 20 feet. 
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. floor to waist. 
  • Ability to Team lift 50 lbs. waist to shoulder, overhead or carry 20 feet. 
  • Must be able to drive a motor vehicle with a valid driver’s license. 
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time when traveling by airplane or vehicle. 
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time when visiting sites.
  • Must have reliable attendance.
